And here's a groaner from John

Chicken Surprise

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the 'Chicken Surprise'. The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.

Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.

'Good grief, did you see that?' she asks her husband. He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down..

Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.

'Please sir,' says the waiter, 'what you order?'

The husband replies, 'Chicken Surprise.'

(Now for the groan)

'Ah! So sorry,' says the waiter, 'I bring you Peeking Duck!'

Have a Happy Day and keep smiling. Oh I forgot to mention yesterday, that I was publishing my 900th post since starting this blog.

Try these...

I saw this over at Robin's and had to have a nibble...

You Are Peanut Butter Sandwiches / Do-si-dos

You are easy going and naturally happy. You don't need a lot to make you smile.

You genuinely care about people and are a great friend. You're always doing your best to make the world a better place.

Even though there isn't an immature bone in your body, you still are like a big kid sometimes.

Why make life complicated when the best parts are actually quite simple? You enjoy the small joys of life.

Only problem is I don't really like peanut butter.
So I tried this...

You Are Lighthearted and Hilarious

When You Are Comfortable:

You are a carefree, adventurous person. You love excitement, and you enjoy being in a changing, dynamic environment.

People find you to be funny, generous, and competent. You're well spoken, and you know how to wow people with your words.

When You Are At Your Best:

You are a hard worker. You need security and stability in your life, even if that means putting in long hours.

People see you as solid and dependable. You are always able to see the good in situations. Other find this comforting.

When You Are in a Social Setting:

You are a shy, quiet person. Underneath your shell, you are compassionate and giving.

People find you to be friendly and welcoming. Your home is a place of comfort to them.

I wonder if people see me like this..well I am shy so they got that bit correct!

What Breed of Dog are you!

I saw this over at Happily Retired Girl and of course I had to have a go.

You Are an American Bulldog

You are a very imposing, powerful creature... but deep down, you're generally good natured.
You are incredibly energetic, and you like to blow off steam with sports and horsing around.

You are naturally courageous. You would run into a burning building to save someone you loved.

You intimidate people without trying to. Some people assume the worst of you when they first meet you.

I would never ever see myself as an *American Bulldog* however some of that might be near the truth!
***********************
I know this is a strange topic combination in one post but as I haven't mentioned food for a while I wanted to share a meal we had earlier in the week:

I don't do new year resolutions but I decided that I would start the year off by using up some of the food that has been forgotten stored in my chest freezer. I found some salmon steaks that had been in there a lot little longer than recommended. I knew they would not taste that good so I decided to make them into fishcakes and thought with seasoning they might be passable.
Now I know what you are thinking that's a pretty big fishcake. To be honest once I had mixed everything together, I changed my mind as I thought fish pie would be an easier option. I'll admit it was not the best meal I've ever made but Embee ate it without complaining. Now I wonder what I'll use up next time!
In case you are wondering there is no recipe- you can add whatever you fancy. I put in some fresh parsley, corn and topped with cheese sauce.

Happy Halloween-Blogging Boo and Are you a witch

To help me with today's post I got the Halloween button from Small Reflection

Now, this is how Blogging Boo will work. Go to as many friends as you want and tell them they've been "Booed". Have them link back to your blog to pick up their Halloween Treat (picture)! Tell them to "Boo" their friends. Then, put the picture in your side bar so everyone knows that you've already been "Booed".
So, are you scared yet!!?? Well, you better be!!! BOO!!!

One more time - the rules - short and sweet!
1. Take picture, put on sidebar
2. Tell people they have been booed
3. Link back to who booed you

It's getting quite late in the day so I don't want to put pressure on anyone but if you fancy doing this consider yourself well and truly Booed my friends.

You Are 30% Witch

It's unlikely that you're a witch. At least, no one thinks you are.

You may still be interested in witchcraft, but you're by no means a stereotypical witch.

While you don't seem all that witchy, people may think you're a bit weird.

You're definitely a little offbeat. No one really knows what to make of you sometimes.

I'm not much of a witch what about you!

I don't have any pictures to show you except the one I took of the pumpkin my grandson was preparing last week. My 2006 archive post shows some early pictures of my children and grandchildren enjoying Halloween.

Your Age by Eating Out

This was sent to me by a friend. You must do this it works!!!!!

YOUR AGE BY EATING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway - but your waiter may know!

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to

go out to eat.

(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...

If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. ( I. e., How many times
you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

Freaky huh.

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS

You are friendly and social - and people are taken by your charm.

Your role in life is to inspire, motivate, and raise others' spirits.

At times, you can seem a bit superficial.

Sometimes you're a bit unfocused and too easygoing.

What's your names hidden meaning

Another little thing I found over at Small Reflections. A hidden meaning to my name well it was like red rag to a bull I had to charge in there to see what what my name means......

What Christine Means

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.

You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.

A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

I'm sure you will be just as curious as was...but will you admit it!!

You tend to be a fairly thrifty person. You splurge occasionally, but you're mostly a saver.

You don't tend to be a very adventurous person, but you do surprise everyone now and then. You have a bit of a wild side.

Personality Test

I found this Personality Test over at Tiggerlambgirl a while back and as anyone who is a regular visitor knows I cannot resist taking a test. After all tests were my favourite thing at school, I don't think!
So.........
The Big Five is currently the most accepted personality model in the scientific community. The Big Five emerged from the work of multiple independent scientists/researchers starting in the 1950s who using different techniques obtained similar results. Those results were that there are five distinct personality traits/dimensions. Here are my results on each dimension:
Big Five Test Results
Extroversion (28%) low which suggests you are very reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and private.
Accommodation (70%) high which suggests you are overly kind natured, trusting, and helpful at the expense too often of your own individual development (martyr complex).
Orderliness (60%) moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly organized, neat, structured and restrained at the expense too often of flexibility, variety, spontaneity, and fun.
Emotional Stability (40%) moderately low which suggests you are worrying, insecure, emotional, and anxious.
Inquisitiveness (36%) moderately low which suggests you are, at times, overly small minded, traditional, and conventional at the expense of intellectual curiousity, possibility, and progress.
Take Free Big Five Personality Test
personality tests by similarminds.com

I went on a management course at work not long before I retired where we had to do some of these type exercises to find out our management style (and,of course, the purpose of the exercise was for us to make improvements!!) I have to say the results were quite interesting and reasonably accurate. I think there could be a lot of truth in the above test results as well. However I might just challenge the last one~ traditional and conventional I might be, but small-minded, as the dictionary describes....

"mean-spirited, uncharitable; close-minded, shortsighted, myopic, blinkered, inward-looking, unimaginative, parochial, provincial, insular, small-town; intolerant, illiberal, conservative, hidebound, dyed-in-the-wool, set in one's ways, inflexible; prejudiced, bigoted".......

is surely not me...or do others see me differently!!! Feel free to comment truthfully!! Oh and if you haven't done this one give it a go!

What kind of music are you??

I needed a quick post today because I am taking my mother out. I may have mentioned last week that I took her clothes shopping~ well this week some of it has to be returned! Also we have been invited to lunch with my brother and his wife and on the way there we are hoping to go and see if the Bluebells are out yet. So when I saw this over at Karisma's yesterday, I decided to borrow the idea and give it a go; I think I might have done this before and got a different result!! If you try it, let me know what kind of music you are!!

You Are Classical Music

You are a somewhat serious person who enjoys studying subjects deeply.

Art of all kinds interests you, and a good piece of art can really effect you emotionally.

You are inspired by human achievement, and you appreciate work that takes years to accomplish.

For you, the finer things in life are not about snobbery - they're about quality.

You tend to "play hooky" and blow off responsibilities a lot more than most people.

You should live: By the beach

Doy Bags are great!

I have been wanting to write about Doy Bags ever since I discovered them on Bread,Water,Salt and Oil back at the end of October. I was impressed with the efforts of the women who have built up a business and are the main bread winners for their family so I immediately ordered three of the large tote bags. However, because I was giving two of them to my girls for Christmas, I didn't want to spoil the surprise so I've waited until now to tell you about them. It was quite funny because as soon as Beccy saw my bag, when she came shopping with me on Christmas Eve, she immediately said "did you get me one of those"!!
I don't know what you think but to me this is a brilliant way to recycle some of our packaging and provide a living for a women's cooperative in the Philippines. Take a look at the link and let me know what you think.
***********************************************************************
The other thing I bought for all of us was this little book on vinegar. What's so special about vinegar I hear you say~ but actually it is an interesting little book. Not only does it give the history of vinegar, (did you know it has been around for 10,000 years), it also tells you about it's many practical uses.

I thought it might be interesting to share these uses with you on the bottom of my posts~ is this a good idea or not? let me know.
Here's a little quiz to see how much you know about.........
How many types of vinegar are described in this book and can you name some of them? If I get a good response I might even give a small prize for the person who gets closest~no getting the answers from Sam or Beccy!!!

I cannot remember whose blog I saw this on so apologies for not giving you a mention. Having done the test I now have confirmation that I'm not the brightest pebble on the beach. I had this in draft wondering if I was actually going to own up to this low score. Then what do I find today Willowtree beat me to it and posted this. He's such a (_E=mc2_) as he's smarter than 97% of us foolish enough to to take the test. I just wish there had been more trivial questions about England and I might have upped my score!!

What kind of frog or work of art are you ?

I found these on House of Purpleworms and had to have ago!

I'm a Spring Peeper!

The Spring Peeper is only .75 - 1.5 inches long, but is has a very powerful high-pitched whistle with the occasional trill that can be heard over long distances. Peepers are abundant in wooded areas in or near flooded ponds and swamps. In these ponds, the Spring Peepers will form singing choral groups, making sounds that can almost sound like jingling sleigh bells from a distance.
