Secret Ornament Swap 2008!

When Julie decided to run the Secret Ornament swap again this year I didn't hesitate to sign up. Last year had been so much fun choosing ornaments and hoping that the recipient would like my choice and then seeing all the different ornaments everyone had chosen.
I sent mine off and then eagerly waited to know that my ornament had arrived safely and I was relieved when it did. Then I started getting excited, waiting for mine to arrive; however I had been busy this week, so I really did get a lovely surprise when I got back from taking my mother to clinic to find a package waiting. The real coincidence is that it arrived on exactly the same day as the one last year!

I had not met Mary before today. She writes Perfektly Mary so I scurried over to read her blog and say a big Thank You. From the little note she wrote I think she might have been secretly lurking on my blog.
Now look how prettily she wrapped the ornament and the little note.
I think you will all agree this delightful wooden Cheer will look lovely nestled amongst the branches of my tree, when I finally get to decorate it.

Embee has promised he will get the tree down from the loft at the weekend!

Thank you once again Mary and also thank you Julie for all the effort you put into organising this popular swap.

Thursday Thoughts

Firstly this is a picture of a Butterfly that I took when I was in Corfu. It's not a terribly good picture because it wouldn't keep still for very long! I think it is a Swallowtail!

Secondly my new header is part of a panorama view I made from photos taken on a walk at Carrickgollogan when I was staying with Beccy last month.

Finally I am taking part in a Christmas Ornament swap arranged by Julie. I'm just showing that my parcel is going in the post today. No clues as to where it is going...I took the photo before adding the address!! There are about 60 bloggers taking part, and this must have taken a lot of organisation...so thanks to you Julie, I now know I will be getting at least one Christmas surprise!

My Secret Ornament Surprise Arrived Today!

Julie at Abbily Ever After had a brilliant idea when she organised a secret ornament swap. This morning I was eating my breakfast whilst writing a post about my recent holiday when the doorbell rang. It was the postman delivering me a package! I usually only get junk mail and bills so you can imagine how excited I was to get this little surprise from Megan, across the pond, at Three Time Mommy. So naturally I had to tell you about it immediately and my other post will save for another day.

It is The White House Historical Association Christmas Ornament for 2007 and came beautifully boxed, which you might just see from the photo. It honours the first administration of President Grover Cleveland. He is the only US president to serve two non-consecutive terms (it's quite funny really because a couple of months ago this was a crossword question that I had to google). He is also the only president to marry in The White House and it is this event which is featured in the picture on the ornament. I was so fascinated to read all the historical detail in the pamphlet that came with it. As soon as I get the tree up my lovely new treasure will be on display for all to see.

Thank you so much Megan, but how did you know that this pretty ornament would suit me so well! BTW I love the notepaper with the pictures of your children they are so cute.

Also Big Thank you Julie for organising this popular event which I'm sure everyone will agree is proving to be be a huge success.
