A=Apples and P=pressie

Yesterday, I took my mother out to visit my brother and one of the reasons we went was to pick up some cooking apples. These apples are from one of his neighbour's trees and can you believe they never use them. The branches hang over into the field behind my brother's house so they are easy to scrump (steal). The haul was not as good as in previous years but I'm happy. Now I have to start preserving them. You may also espy some cucumbers,at the end of the table,they are from my brother's garden.

Last night Embee returned home from his week in France and Belgium he hasn't unpacked any of the wine from the car so I'm not quite sure what he brought back. However he did bring me a Norah Jones CD, some hand made chocolates and chocolate pate which is in a tin that reminds me of an old fashioned boot polish tin. I will save that for when the family visit but the date on the chocs means I have to eat those!

Special Greeting to Nikki

Nikki is going through a very difficult time at the moment and she needs all our support and prayers.

My prayer for you

Heavenly Father, in Nikki's present need, help her to believe that you are aware of her anxiety and will do what is best for her.
Give her the strength to trust you and put the present and future in your hands.
Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

I also send you some flowers that might help to brighten your day while you rest.......and then you need something to nibble............while you catch up on all the gossip......
.......while you listen to some music

Irishcoffeehouse this was a great idea of yours to show Nikki that we are all thinking of her :)

Tesco Update

Remember this post about my mother being knocked over by Tesco baskets that toppled. Well last Saturday a fortnight after the accident she felt well enough to walk along to Tesco to buy the daily papers. Apparently as soon as she walked in she was offered flowers and chocolates or the choice of having Tesco head office deal with things. Now bear in mind no one from the company has contacted her... she was flustered by this and didn't know what to say so she accepted what they offered and staggered home with four bunches of flowers, together with a box and a packet of chocolates.
So whilst I still feel they did not handle this situation at all well or even consider what might be the implications under health and safety regulations, when push came to shove they made a gesture.
Oh and I did notice that the baskets are now stacked differently~ so maybe some good did come out of it!!
My mother is enjoying the flowers which look very pretty; the chocolates have not yet been opened except for the photograph!

How not to treat your mother!!

Talking to my mean dear daughter via skype yesterday morning she produced a rather large box of chocs that she had been given as a present. She then proceeded to open the box and taunt me!! Just look at the glee as she pops one in her mouth while her poor old mum sits drooling at the other end of the computer. Cruelty to mother just shouldn't be allowed!!!
