Fun Monday # 133 I'm a bag lady!
Today I had the pleasure of choosing the topic and I would like to thank you all for supporting me by joining in.
Just to remind you:
Here in the UK we are being encouraged to stop using plastic bags (except for the reusable ones) so for the last couple of years I have been developing my shopping bag collection and have become a real Bag Lady!
I'd like to know 'what type of shopping bag do you favour'-plastic or material? How many do you use. You could even show us what's in your bag!
An over view of my collection.
I tend to rotate the use of these bags.
If you watch the video see if you can spot the bag I didn't actually highlight. It's nylon and packs up very small and lives in my handbag, Beccy gave it to me and it's so useful.
My trolley after last weeks grocery shopping...
a peep into some of the bags....
I'm really nosy so looking forward to seeing all your bags.

If I've missed anyone out please let me know know.
Late addition:
Karisma who has a wonderful collection.

Holy Crap! Yours are really flash. Mine look like shit, plus I had to pay for them. I almost didn't watch the clip as I didn't realise it was yours, that was a really good idea.
Chris - you sure do have quite a collection of bags! It looks like you put them all to good use. I am still working on my collection one bag at a time. Thanks for hosting FM!
WOW - you have quite a few ! AND ... I could listen to you talk forever, just love the accent.
Free bags?! What are those? All of the bags around here cost. Some of them used to cost only $1, but I have noticed that most are up around $5 now.
I loved the movie! Great topic and thanks for hosting.
I have to say you have inspired me - I'm going to try to create a new habit of making sure I have some bags with me when I go to the market.
and I thought I had many bags, I am sorry I am late with my posting, just finished my homework, need to go sleep, will post when I come from work
Wow freebies! We don't get too many freebies though some of mine have been (I didn't take photos of those as they're packed away).
I also have a lot but I only choose some examples to show, the only one I missed in your collection was the Jute bag of Tesco with the little ladybugs on which I got in Eastbourne in August. All the others are from Belgium of course !
I like these little linnen bags too !
It looks like you've yet to use those named bags which Sam gave us. I use mine all the time!
Beccy I do use those bags but I try and keep them clean.
Wow! Nifty collection! I was wondering if they're as popular in other countries as they are here in the US. Great topic, thanks for hosting!
I just may have to get some more bags. Just recently I have seen a couple of commercials here for a megamart that was using cloth bags instead of the plastic ones, and I was impressed. I think a lot of Americans already 'busy' themselves so much that they think that one more step out the door is just too much. Twice I've put the baby down, unlocked the door, ran to get the bag, and ran back. Not so hard, plus if you have older kids, they can go and fetch, although with most things, the practical thing to do would be to empty the bags and immediately put them back in your car or whatever. I can't believe you have your own trolley? We call them carts here. I wish we had our own, I wouldn't need bags at all, just strap the cart into the truck and take it all home. Ha!
Hi Chris , I am a bag lady too. But I am too shy of displaying them on the web. Iam a basket lady too.
Love your collection.I have bags made of cloth, and synthetic material and woven ones too.... the ethnic types made by tribal folk.
On Friday i bought a large shopping bag which folds into a small case as some of the other ones were becoming slightly tatty.
I have one which is about 25 years old. Want to give it away by my Mom won 't let me....its a sentimental thing for her.
Love your video clip, love your accent.Reminds me of my English colleagues and friends.
In India they sometimes give you free bags at clothing stores, but you have to make a sizable purchase
I love your little video, mum. So cute! But it doesn't look like you've yet used those Family Market bags I sent you?
You really are a "Bag Lady" LOL..its nice that you are doing your part for the environment. I also have a few canvas tote bags but never use them for shopping. I use them more for going to festivals, beach and vacations. Thanks for hosting Chris and Happy FM
I bet your grandkids loved hearing you read stories to them. You have such a calm, soothing voice and I imagine that you must tell the most wonderful stories with it.. I don't think your accent is that strong, certainly the 'celebrities' from there that camp out in the US for a while during the year and give interviews have much stronger accents than yours. Sometimes they are hard to follow to my untrained ears, but I had no trouble understanding you at all!
Wow... my collection isn't nearly so vast - and not nearly as used. I need to change that!
Thanks for hosting today...great idea...I'm headed back to watch the clip.
Lil Mouse the grandchildren loved bedtime stories being read to them. They're all past that now.
Sam I have indeed used my family bags I alternate them when I go to the mall. I used the EA one today to take parcels to the Post office!
beckie a lot of companies will give promotional bags -it's free advertising for them!
Amrita I do have some cloth clothes bags which I didn't include in this post; they came from a store in Bath and I don't actually use these very often.
I love my reusable bags... when I remember to bring them with me. That is my only downfall - poor planning/memory.
A friend suggested I share the link to a post I just wrote... I do as I am told, apparently. Here you go:

I have only used the fabric type - I purchased them at the shops I frequent. I've also collected a few from other sources (most recently from Blogher swag, hahaha).
I also reuse the plastic produce bags (I just collected them and reuse them). But I'd like to purchase some net bags to use for produce. I noticed in your bags that you just put them in the bag loose!
I just can't shop in bulk anymore. Everything becomes cooling garbage in my fridge.
And half the time I leave my bags in the trunk.
You're much more organized and efficient than I -- I should come visit and get lessons.
Loved hearing your voice on the video ChrisB and getting the scoop on your bag collection. Just noticed today in my Fresh Market that they had some large jute bags that were possibly insulated. Must investigate. And in your collection, I can see taking the basket to a farmer's market.
I also enjoyed your video clip Chris! Have you been playing with the little Flip camera?? I do not have a collection of bags like you do, but I do have several tiny little collapsible ones that live in my huge handbag! You are an organizational inspiration! Thanks so much for a FUN, Fun Monday!!
I am a bag lady too! I wish I had been paying attention to FM. I would have totally played along! I'm going to do a post up about my bag collection. I'll send you the link when I'm done with it(not that you need to link me to this FM) This is near and dear to me. I enjoy collection bags from different stores!
Those orange Sainsburry's(sp?) are awesome...they fold into each other right?
LOL! Very nice! That is what I like to see! Sorry I am late (again! sigh) I am working on my post right now. Should be up in an hour or so.
Kaytabug let me know if you would like me to send you one (orange sainbury's bag)
