Glamorous Great-Gran

You might recall that my mother is no longer able to venture very far and for the last few months I have been cutting her hair. Although this has been fairly successful, my mother still misses going to have her hair professionally styled. I was wondering what to give her as a treat for Mothering Sunday (don't worry, you haven't forgotten I know it's a week away) and in a flash I knew if I could get her an appointment with my hairdresser she would be delighted. Sarah was so helpful and although she is always busy she managed to fit in an appointment yesterday afternoon. My mother had a relaxing head massage, she got her hair properly styled and she had tea and biscuits. What more could she want......as we drove home she said....."perhaps I could come every time you go"!!!!!!......

Granny looks like she really enjoyed her visit to the hairdressers.

I love having my hair washed and scalp massaged! I only go to the hairdressers about every 6 weeks when I need a trim. Thankfully I manage my hair quite well in between times. Moving to the other end I find a feet and leg massage wonderful!

Chris I like the new look

She looks like she really enjoyed herself and I love all of the shots you posted of her. Was the water cold when she has the sour look on her face?

Your Granny looks devine! I am sure she enjoyed getting her hair done. I know from watching my dad that older people need to keep some of their favorite things going in their lives. It nearly killed my dad when he had to stop mowing his own yard, then his health worsened and he had to stop his gardening. Something as simple as getting your hair done is important to older people. Take her with you if you can and she will love you for it.

Thanks for reminding me about Mother's Day, the US is different so I had completely forgotten!

And what would delight you - mother? Since you have now reminded me I only a week to go before delight giving day?

I guess I should try and think of something. There is something I want to do for you, but I have a technical problem. I'll see if I can get fred on the case. We might mess everything up though.

angela I'm sure your mother will love whatever you choose to do for her.

beccy she did she is still talking about it today.

grannymar I'm the same as you I go every 6 weeks~ would you believe I'm booked up until the end of the year!

Oh I love the leg/feet massage~ in fact~ massages in general are so relaxing!!

AC and Sandy I'm not always I can assure you!!

Lisa marie he he I wondered what that look was for~ I think she might just have been a bit uncomfortable with her arthritis in the spine!

misty and john that is sweet of you :)

Lucy thanks for dropping by my place. I do agree with everything you say but sometimes I just need to have some time to myself to relax (my mum lives with us which you might not realise). However I'm sure we will sort something out.

Alix you can remember it twice then!

sandy

sam I did not do this to remind you I might get to talk to you next Sunday that would be enough for me. I shall be in Dublin then.

beckie I think we can safely say she did :)

VERY thoughtful gift, Chris. She looks well pleased with the result (which prompted her comment, I suppose).

How great to do that for your Mom. It's tough when older folk have to give up some of their independence.
