Happy 14th Birthday Dillon
Today my grandson Dillon celebrates his 14th birthday. Where have the intervening years gone it seems only yesterday that I was sitting in the hospital anxiously awaiting his arrival. He was the first grandchild and as a proud grandma I have masses of memories and photos but here are just a few you might like to share as I go down memory lane. He had to be in an incubator for a short while as he was jaundiced but he soon recovered and a few months later he was one cool dude.
Dillon's first birthday and around the same time he liked to try his hand at driving.
He loved this little car and this was taken in Sept. 1994 just before the family went to live in Dublin. The other photo was taken a few months before on a trip to France for a family reunion.
On Dillon's third birthday he had two cakes and the other one that is not photographed was a brilliant Thomas the Tank Engine complete with carriages (made by Beccy). On St Patricks day he went to the fancy dress disco as 'The Fat Controller' and I think he won a prize. (click to enlarge the facial expression says it all)
When Dillon's uncle got married he was one of the best men and carried the rings.
This was taken in Cornwall 2005.
I don't think either Dillon or Ben were too keen to pose for this photo.
More co-operative here just to please his grandma.
If you have already read Beccy's post for today you will know Dillon no longer likes having his photo taken but he is creative and likes experimenting so he sent me these last two photos earlier today so that I could finish with an up-to-date image. He hasn't published anything on his blog recently but it shows some of his past creations.
Dillon, We all hope you had a lovely day and that you enjoyed the curry and lemon cake and we send you lots of love and hugs xxx

Did you not have a photo of the Thomas cake? Or the Tomas cake I made the following year with Annie and Claribel? I'd forgotten quite what a baking genius I was. I was a bit disappointed when he chose lemon cake this year and no candles!
Hate the France photo, what hideous clothes Sam and I were wearing!
beccy I do have a really good photo but its a stand alone. I think a good post would be all your cakes over the years. Let me know and I will do it or we can do a combined effort.
They grow so fast. Cute birthday monologue for him!!!
happy birthday, dillon! and you took great photos! if there's a mac in your house, you should try photobooth - you can get some really cool effects.
karmyn he's way taller than me now and I so wish I lived closer to them.
enidd I have just researched photobooth it sounds good. I'm still dithering about whether to get another mac or go PC like sam and bec have done.
Pity there is no picture of him with me pushing his pram. Everyone else in the neighbourhood at the time thought he was the best.
embee I don't think I found one of those there is one of you both asleep I could have used.
chris, that is a wonderful photographic journal of your first grandchild!
why does dad never leave me comments? Only you and Beccy?
He can't on your site from the work computer and that's when he tends to leave them Sam.
Sam, it's his way of showing favoritism.
JUST KIDDING! :)
What a great tribute to the birthday boy (even if I'm coming to the "party" late)!
why not?
Is my site blocked because of all the food porn?
Sam why don't you ask Dad?
elena jane he's a typical teenager but he has a great sense of humour and he's quite bright when he applies himself (says she boasting grandmas can do that)
sam as beccy says its something to do with the work computer he had to get them to enable it to comment on ours but I think there is a problem with yours.
robin ahh but better late than never.
Thanks for sharing these photos.
I really enjoyed yesterdays post and admire your patience in the way you care for your mother - giving her time to do things herself when it would be faster to do it yourself. Lovely!
ailsa I am not very patient really so it can be quite hard sometimes and we do fall out but it's soon forgotten.
