Fancy a cake

I was looking through some of my old photo albums this afternoon and seeing some of the lovely cakes Beccy has made for her children I decided to share a few of the early ones. It would have been better if I had scanned them in but this takes so long so I just re-photographed them. You will see that Dillon was very fond of trains when he was young. Mollie rather liked her house, Teletubbies and Barbie. Since these early cakes Beccy has made tennnis courts, a football pitch, a swimming pool and many more. She even made cakes for several of her friend's children.

Hi Chris, thanks so much for coming by the Back Porch. I wish I could get a better photo of the print on that wall..that room is so tiny, it's hard to photograph!

Those cakes are wonderful!! My mother gave my girls doll cakes for their birthdays when they were growing up in the 1960's and early 1970's. They always knew Granny would bring one of those cakes, when she visited on their special days!

I was asked to make Etienne's first birthday cake for his birthday party today. Problem is they only asked at the last minute. To make childrens' cakes you do need a bit of lead time for planning. So I declined. I hope they let me make a future a cake, especially when he is old enough to ask for a certain theme.

I still love making cakes but as they get older the choices get simpler.

The swimming pool has to be my all time favourite.

sam you are so clever I'm sure you could have managed something simple like a letter 1 or a hedgehog but I'm sure there will many other years as you are his god-mother aren't you?

beccy I'm looking for photos of your other cakes but I'm not sure I have them. I liked the fort!

Hi mum - not clever enough to magic up cake-making time out of nowhere ;)

Those are fantastic, and they have enough lollies to really make them worthwhile!

Chris, as for scanning versus re-shooting, these days I find that the difference in quality doesn't justify the amount of effort required to scan, as these photos prove. I normally just take a picture of the photo too.
