Sh**** Saturday

Please do not think badly of me for writing this...........

Without going into details I think I'm already fed up with some parts of this nursing lark!!!....namely emptying the commode...which seems to be a very frequent task! I never remember my kids being this prolific!!! Still I must be using up a few calories with all the chasing up and down, so that has to be a good thing :)

I don't think that the patient is feeling that great today. The dressing on her thigh (where the skin was removed for graft) is seeping and, of course, now she has seen that she is worried. Also she is finding it a lot more painful. I have put some additional dressings over the original, but have been debating whether we should visit the A & E, to have it checked out. I think I'll see how it goes later today and then make a decision!

Now this is my real focus for today.......

When I read this post that Robin wrote about reducing the unwanted catalogues and junk mail. It made me wonder if I am actually doing enough to prevent the vast amount of junk that finds its way through my letter box on a daily basis.
Most of the catalogues we get, are actually for my mother who does tend to order things over the phone and consequently gets her address passed on.
About a month ago I started returning everything to the sender~ the photo below was what my mother received on just one day last week! I've been told that if you do this a few times they get the message and take you off their list. I look at it this way, I know I have the effort of taking it to the post box, however once it is back with the sender they have to get rid of it, and if we ever get charged by weight for recycling and rubbish I am lightening my load!!
What do you do about your unasked for junk mail and catalogues??

Ours goes into the recycling pick up bin. It gets picked up weekly.

I hope some of those nasty chores don't last too long.

Ours does, too. Collected fortnightly. I could decorate the whole house with the 'Unwanted Clothes' stickers!

Well done on my 'Guess the Sex' competition!

Hope your weekend gets better x

My sympathy over part1.

As for the mail you can have it stopped. Contact Local sorting office. I did it years ago. Still get three fliers a week, that is all Royal Mail are allowed deliver and the Postie get 50p per item. I know this because he told me!

I feel your pain with the potty. I went through the same thing a few years ago. Hopefully, this too shall pass. No pun intended.

At work we get a huge amount of junk mail via the fax machine. We have begun calling the senders to have us taken off of their list. It seems to be working. I wonder if the same would work for the paper mailers, but only if they have an 800 number. We recycle them at home.

Return to sender, with no stamp is pretty good!

Hope Mum is ok.

I hope you mom feels better soon Chris. If the area is seeping it may be infected. Do you have an antibiotic cream to put on it?

Please take care of yourself also!!

I also hope your Mum feels better soon...heals quickly;).

Junk mail?
That's easy. Whenever your receive any junk mail that includes a postage-paid envelope ---- simply stuff said envelope with - you got it - Junk Mail and post it to them. They have to pay the postage used on those envelopes.

But I like your idea of return to sender (especially for the senders of junk mail that do not provide an envelope). :)

Ac we have to sort it they wont take plastic or envelopes in our recycling and its a pain!

beccy granny is very amused she knows I posted this. She says she could get used to hotel service!

grannymar I didn't realise about the fee for delivering junk mail!

john we though this ploy might just work!

Alison we worried she might have picked up some infection from the hospital. I don't think they want us to look st it for 5 days!

gawilli the real problem is my mum likes several of the catalogues so we can't use the customer preference service because that would also stop the ones she wants!

I know nursing duty is rough. The seeping doesn't sound too good. I have been thinking of you and your Mum today.

Beccy's comment made me laugh.

I recycle all of our junk mail, but I probably should look into just not receiving it.

You are a star Chris. I could not do it.

With addressed junk mail I ring the company and asked to be removed from the list. Our building doesn't allow unaddressed mail so we don't end up with screeds of paper.

barbara my experience has been they say they will remove you from the mailing list but this doesn't actually happen!

At least granny has a sense of humour. I think if I blogged about you this way you would disown me ;)

I'm sorry things are so difficult at the moment. Hopefully you only have a short time of it. :)

I usually throw the junk away immediately. I didn't realize I could send them back. Interesting.

hoping your mom is feeling better.

That is a lot of junk mail. I think I may start doing the "return" bit. I'd like to do that will bills, too.

I do the return to sender thing too! Oh dear, I hope your mom is feeling better and that you are hanging in there. Nursing is one thing I simply couldn't do. I just don't have the patience for it. Hopefully, she'll be on the mend quickly. And NO, I do not think any less of you!!

hope your Mum is improving give her a hug from sheffield.
there is a web site you can go to and you register your house to stop receiving junk mail, for the life of me i can't think what it is called, that is not very helpful of me is it!

sam I am under no illusions that either you or beccy would be able to nurse me~ I would not even want to put you in that position. Granny actually enjoys being blogged about.

Excuse me, I don't think I'd make a bad nurse!

I need to do something about my junk mail, too. I do recycle it, but it seems like it would be better to just not kill the trees in the first place!
I hope your situation gets a little better. Playing nurse is no fun.

Since I have to go to the post office to pick up my mail I go through and pull the junk mail out and recycle it there. Since we have just moved though, I don't have a ton of it yet.

Hopefully your mom is feeling better now and able to manage some of that on her own!!!
