Fun Monday # 45

Kaytabug is helping us get into the festive spirit as she says.....

In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few (you know I can't choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don't decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season.

This actually prompted me to unpack my decorations but I couldn't decide which are my favourites. So you've got a small selection. In case you are wondering Embee got the tree down from the loft but it won't be put up for another week or so. You will be able to work out which photos I took last year!
The angel (bottom left) goes on top of the tree. The two little yellow plastic ornaments are from my childhood. The little bear complete with tennis raquet and the tennis ball in the second set of photos are tree ornaments I bought for Embee when I was in San Francisco in 2002. The other angel was a free gift and I have to say it would not be my choice, so not quite sure why I decided to show it!
The ornaments in the top right picture have all been made by my grandchildren and so those are greatly treasured. The lanterns are very old and were given to me by an elderly housekeeper where I worked back in the 70's. The paper is beginning to wear but they look very pretty provided you make sure a light shines in each one. These are only a few of my ornaments and you might have guessed I use a red and gold theme each year.
I will be posting a picture of my tree closer to Christmas.

Now I'm off to admire everyone else's ornaments see you soon.
P.S
Just to show that I don't think more of my grandchildren than I do of my children I thought I would add these decorations made by Sam and
Beccy back in the 70's

My tree is still in the loft. On this very cold morning I am tempted to leave it there

You showed us some very lovely ornaments! I am wishing I had showed more, I have so many more that are favorites! My angel topper is a favorite of mine too!

hey! I have some similar little ones from many years ago with little mice and bears. I think we bought them when the kids were small.

Your grandkids made very nice ornaments. Someone must have helped them that knew how to point the way.

The first bear on the top right I thought was a diver at first. :) Love the bear on the sleigh.

So nice your grandkids keep you supplied in ornaments. Filling in now that their parents (your kids) are grown and no longer make you any. I can remember making a tree like the one in your photo, with all those little pieces of paper. :)

I shouldn't have been surprised to see tennis ornaments. Love the ball! Can't wait to see your tree.

When you're a teenager you kinda roll your eyes that you ever made such silly decorations...when you get a little age on ya, they're truly appreciated. I know your daughters HAVE to love that you've kept those.

Great collection and it's always nice to learn the stories behind the pictures, Chris. :)

As usual you have created a lovely presentation for Fun Monday. Your children and grandchildren are very talented. Those lanterns are especially nice.

We have not put up a tree either, but many people here put up a tree around Thanksgiving or late in November.

We have our tree but it is waiting to be put up. I didn't get them out yet so I didn't get this one done this time. Kelly is supposed to do it soon though!
I love all the handmade kid ornaments I always think those are very special.

Wow I am amazed that you still have the paper ones after all these years. Although my kids make new ones each year, the paper ones tend to fall apart after a couple of years use, which is why we started using wood instead.

That is the first tennis ball ornament I've ever seen! Very lovely decorations. And it is great that you still have your girls homemade ones from way back when. I hope I'm as good a caretaker of ours as you have been of yours!

I do appreciate all your comments but I cannot reply individually.

I will just say about the paper ornaments they no longer get put on the tree but they are stored in a box with some old hanging decorations that I no longer use. Who remembers to old bells and balls and paper chains that were around back in the 50's? Then in the 70's we used to have shiny ornaments suspended from or ceiling. When we moved here the ceilings were higher and it didn't look right but I have kept everything. I guess I could do another whole post of the changing trends of Christmas decorations!
