Fun Monday# 27

This week Amy wants.....
'to see INSIDE our refrigerators. She wants to see them in all their glory without cleaning them out. However empty or full'.

Back in March I actually did a post on the content of my fridge and I could so easily have just left you with this link as nothing much has changed. However, I took fresh photos last week and I did not tidy or clean, I just opened the door and snapped. I'm really such an unimaginative cook and tend to buy the same staple foods each week, this includes a lot of fruit and vegetables. I share my fridge with my mother and she has the shelf with the tins on it. She enjoys her prunes, peaches and custard!!
The white dish contains the Briam I made last week and alongside are Toulouse sausages and bacon, just realised I must use those up today- I will have to make a Sam special
Nothing very exciting in the door the pot of cream has been used to make this dish devised by Cookiecrumb. If you read this Cookiecrumb Embee liked it a lot so I'm sure I will be making it again!!
The more unusual thing I have in the water bottle, alongside the salad dressings, is a culture of Kombucha (Lonevity Tea). You can learn more about this unusual mushroom here. I keep meaning to make a brew!!
This last picture is one of two small fridges we keep in the cellar for drinks and overspill. At the moment this one only contains my bulk buy muesli and almonds. Oh and a few bottles!
I'll be over to snoop into all your fridges soon. By the way I'm hosting again next week so hope you will sign up! SEE BELOW

That's looking quite empty for you, I'm sure it will be back to bursting at the seams next week.

I'm glad I didn't participate this week - so far all three I've seen are very neat compared to mine! ;-) THANK YOU for the link to Sam's recipe - I hadn't seen it. I've had organic Toulouse sausages sitting in my freezer for months and no idea what to do with them. Also have lentils so now I have dinner planned for tomorrow! ;-) You think it's ok to use red lentils instead?

With the Briam, Toulouse sausages. and baked Zucchini, you seem to be a creative cook to me. Your refrigerator looks quite tall.

Glad to see Granny get a mention. She hasn't featured for awhile and I was wondering if she was well.

beccy it will if I can think up enough menus!!

deborah I'm sure it will be fine with what ever type of lentils you use. I won't forget to add you in for next week :) PS I actually cut my sausages and bacon into small chunks (I think sam might suggest browning them whole and then cutting into pieces).

mjd it could be the angle I took the photo and it does have a small freezer unit underneath which I didn't show.

Barbara she's doing OK really but quite frail only goes out once a week if her friend takes her.

What a bonus ! Not only did we get a peek into your refrigerator, but you provided recipes for all of its contents. Interesting recipes. Some I've never heard of but will have to try a couple of them out. Will pass on anything with a mushroom. EEEKKK! Have a great week.

swampy - I feel that way about this particular mushroom which is why it just sits there in the bottle!!

The comments are always so entertaining! Like I have said in most of the comments I have made - looks like a normal fridge to me!

It does look like a tall refrigerator.

Thanks to you, I've received a huge education. And I'm feeling guilty about eating out all the time, when good things can be COOKED at HOME...

Thanks for the recipe for Briam. I love Greek food, and my husband loves vegetable dishes. He'd love it topped with some Feta cheese. Mmmmm....it's almost lunch time here.
We freeze our bread and tortillas here too.

Happy Monday!

Great post, enjoyed getting the links to the recipes. I love to cook so might try some of those out. The tea sounded interesting. I love tea. But probably will pass on that particular tea!

prunes, peaches, and custard.
those sound like three kinds of kisses.

Now just sit there... read it and move your lips.

.... see, I told you so!

At 31/7/07 08:05, Blogger ChrisB said...

theotherbear I think you are right to pass the tea tastes horrible!!

jot t nemo yoghurt not eaten by my grandson when he visited!!

la bellina mammina thank you

pamela you're right how do you manage it, I think my mother would rather like 3 kinds of kisses. A few years ago she answered an ad for 'companionship' and some guy, about 20 yrs younger than her rang up,-can you believe it-companionship I don't think so-hanky panky more like !! I soon put her off -now who's the mother here!!

At 31/7/07 08:40, Blogger Beccy said...

Hey why didn't you tell me about granny and the hanky panky man?

Your fridge looks so organised and tidy compared to mine! With two freezers but just one fridge and 6/7 of us to feed all the chilled food is piled up and balanced in the fridge to make it all fit. The problem is having to shift it all around when looking for something! I could really do with one of those huge American refridgerators. The milk needed daily alone takes up so much room....maybe we should get a cow!

At 31/7/07 14:45, Blogger ChrisB said...

HC Now a cow that's a novel idea!! I hate all the shifting around and inevitably I lose something and only find it when it's out of date and end up throwing it away!!

At 1/8/07 02:40, Blogger cookiecrumb said...

Oh, Chris, I am beyond flattered. I want to eat that baked zucchini again soon, but my garden is not cooperating.
(Let's not talk about my fridge. Trouble.)
xx
