Fun Monday # 79 What will it be....a question or a bird!
We have another great hostess this week; Lisa as you will know is a brilliant photographer, so I'm not at all surprised she gave us a photographic option this week.
So the choices are:
What is one thing you would like to ask your readers? Come up with a question to pose to your visitors and throw it out there on Monday. As we’re all visiting each other’s Fun Monday posts we should answer the various questions we come across.
OR
Show&Tell me about a bird, I’m easily made happy.
Now this is Fun Monday isn't it so I put this question to you.....
If it takes a hen and a half, a day and a half to lay an egg and a half, how long would it take a blue eyed Mongolian to sandpaper an elephant down to a whippet?
I wonder who will have an inspired answer!
I can never get the birds to stay still long enough for me to take a picture well there was this one....
but I will leave you with a picture of a magnificent bird who will never fly again...
Pop over to Lisa's to find out who is posing a question or posting a photo, or both if like me they bent the rules!

Mongolians never use sandpaper. They are all allergic to it. It's a genetic problem. All they have to do is get within 5 feet of a piece of sandpaper and they break out in tiny and very itchy little pustules all over their bodies. It's like full body jock itch. The itch is so fierce that sufferers have been known to experience altered states of reality in which they dance uncontrollably and scream Kingston Trio hits.
My theory is the Mongolian would stand no chance at all, the elephant would protest and stomp HIM into nothing first! I estimate this to take about five minutes!
A nano second and a half if he was flying on the Concorde.
ari, karisma and swampy great answers. I can see I'm going to be laughing my way through today :)
Okay after reading the previous answers I am soo not inspired enough to compare.....
I'll have to ask one of the kids and see their reactions...
I was going to say a very long time, maybe never, having forgotten about the a) sandpaper allergy and b) propensity of elephants to stomp. See, the animal rights activists would be all over this, and would likely prevent the only blue-eyed mongolian not allergic to sand paper and quick enough to avoid stomping feet from doing his job.
Blue eyed Mongolians would obviously use and electric sander, thus whittling down any elephant in a matter of minutes...
The Concord! Great bird, and yes, sad it will never fly again.
I think ari_1965 has the one of the most inspired answers of time, and Karisma's answer is almost as good as are your other commenters.
The Concorde picture is intriguing.
Blond you know....
First are Mongolians blue-eyed?
Second...how big is the elephant?
We're getting into logistics here. If the elephant were full grown it'd take longer...
But then, a whippet? Isn't that a dog breed?
Oh lordy...I'm feeling a headache coming on.
Why didn't you ask this blond if her hairdresser really knows for sure?!!!
My FM question is up.
If it takes a hen and a half, a day and a half to lay an egg and a half, how long would it take a blue eyed Mongolian to sandpaper an elephant down to a whippet?
The thing is, Mongolian Whippets are actually bigger than elephants so this is a bit of a trick question...
Unless it was a British double trunked elephant. Now those are enormous but only visible when sprayed with ketchup and placed under ultra violet light.
So the answer is 7 minutes.
Accoring to the latest Federal Atomic Research Institutes figures, it would take exactly "a long while" :D
Pass!
I wish concorde was still flying, I used to love seeing it fly by.
Darn it to tarnation! I knew you all would fry my brain this early in the morning.
My answer is it would take a Mongolian one and a half calendar years divided by 1 1/2 percent of the amount of time it takes the moon to travel around 1 1/2 of its orbit around the Earth. :0/
The answer is 42 isn't it, the answer to life, the universe, and everything?
What????????????????
ha I am glad I wasn't the only one thinking of a engine driven bird!!
Well I am not even going to attempt the question because I feel very stupid. When I added your blog to my reader, I thought to myself "what a pretty surname Cellania is". I thought it was your name!! Can't get much dimmer than that can you?
Concorde was truly beautiful.
That's a hard one! I think the answer is yes - definitely yes.
I was thinking the elephant was wooden, and it would take a year and a half. That's my answer, and I'm sticking to it.
The concord!!
Okay, the question...
This just couldn't work at all. Elephants are not molecular compatable with whippets. Now, if you wanted to sand one down to a flamingo...that would have some possiblities.
Yikes, is that a B52 or something? I think sandpaper is cruel so I'd take him into a schvitz.
It would take a day - but only if the elephant had a callous.
I was going to say a day in a half, but after looking at the other answers, I'm not sure.
Beautiful takes of the pigeon.
I still can't get my head around half a hen walking around. Top half or bottom half? You either have a hen head that clucks or a hen butt that lays eggs. Then of course it could be sliced....well any way....It's a dilemma no matter how you look at it.
Not long, if you could find a blue-eyed Mongolian with a pet elephant that's prepared to be sandpapered!
Hmm....I think this is a trick question. There is NO SUCH THING as a blue-eyed Mongolian! Right?
George Washington and Quenton Tarantino walk into a bar...
Trick question!!!!
There are no blue-eyed Mongolians!!!
Now, if you wanna know the answer to the woodchuck question, that might be a bit more fair. I hear woodchucks really DO chuck wood. So to speak...
OK, I haven't a clue what a Mongolian whippet is, and if it's a dog, and I've seen a whippet before, than with sandpaper attached to it's tail, in whip light speed, it could have that elephant sanded down in 5 minutes or less, depending on how big the elephant is!!
Love the photos of your pigeons. We just had a pair of fledglings to take care of for a week until they learned to fly, so we had visits from their Mum and Dad, to feed them and make sure our cats didn't have a fat meal.
I was quite surprised, that their parents didn't abandon them.
Happy FM!
What grit is the sandpaper? How big is the elephant? How big is the mongolian? how old is the mongolian? How did he get blue eyes? How much tranquilizer is being used on the elephant? How much vodka is the mongolian drinking? And how many animal rights activists are around?
1 1/2 days if the answers above are 40 grit, 2 tons, 100 lbs, 17 yrs old, from his blond haired mother, 1 ton, 1 5 gallon barrel, 0 - and that's the only way it work, provided his sandpaper allergy didn't overcome him and it wasn't a double trunked British elephant with ketchup all over.
MY HEAD HURTS ... just visualizing the problem (not to mention the solutions others have offered) ... so I'm going to pass to save my sanity (and a bit of wit) to continue visiting others participating in Fun Monday.
As for pigeons, living here in So Cal, they're quite common … (as are seagulls). I’m always amazed how inquisitive (and messy) these big birds can be, but I enjoyed the photos you took of your visitor.
Hugs and blessings,
*Snorting with laughter at the comments!*
I really can't top those!
That question was TOO complicated for my small mind. :)
Wow! Such intellegent answers....
Based on my calculations, I think the answer is 11.
Till Thursday.
well....I think I came a bit late to the party...but I have definitely been entertained by all the brilliant answers to your intellectual question....thanks Chris!!
How Long is from Beijing.
I never got to ride in the Concorde. It isn't fair.
Don't ask the person who's never even played a game of monopoly to answer this question. Even worse--never worked very many math word problems either.
Kudos to you though Chris for helping us stop the loss of grey cells!
The same time a cat and a half needs to give birth to 10 kittens and a half !
PS. yes the weather is lousy and when I was in Eastbourne last week it was also cold !
I'm just very impressed that you managed to use the words 'Elephant' and 'whippet' in the same sentance! Excellent!
Am 'imaginary' retired IRS auditor (Inland revenue to the Brits) chimes in with -'Ah but is Tax Deductible?" which is the only real answer to any question. LMAO
The concorde!The picture is great!
Hmmm ... I will answer yours if you can answer mine !! Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?
I was going to say I have no idea, but I did enjoy reading other people's answers.
by the way -- I wrote my answer/question completely wrong
It should have said:
How Long is a Beijing citizen.
(I'm afraid my cleverness went awry)
pamela now it makes more sense hehe!
