Fun Monday # 64 A walk in the woods
Angela @ the Lurchers has chosen a really good topic for this time of the year, she says:
All I want you to do is take me on your favourite walk. In words or pictures. Or both of course! Tell me why it's your favourite and point out things of interest on the way.
So go get your walking boots on!
After all the winter weather and being stuck indoors it is lovely to be able to see everything begin to come to life with the warmth and sunshine (not that we have had too much sun yet this year!)
I have posted about some of my favourite walks before so I'm going to show you a beautiful place that my mother loves to visit at this time of year. It is a little place called Damery (near Tortworth and Woodford in Gloucestershire) and we went there on Friday. Now some of you may think this is morbid but my mother wanted to show me where she wants her ashes to be scattered when the time comes. She could not have picked a prettier place and you will see why from the photos.
There is a country lane along the side of woods that are just a carpet of Bluebells, A stream runs along the bottom and there is an abundance of wild garlic (the aroma really hits you!). It is very quiet and so peaceful, very little traffic and only a few houses. There is an area where memorial trees can be planted. Below are a few of the photos I took and I think you will understand why my mother loves this place in the spring.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, such beautiful country...so green, so pristine and looking so darned peaceful!!! Love the wildflowers too.

So pretty Chris. I can understand why your Mum would want her ashes scattered there.I think it is a good idea to let family know where you want to be your final resting place.
Wild garlic always makes me hungry! I can smell it all the way over here. Nearly lunchtime so I'll see what I can find to satisfy my longing.
Oh, such a pretty place to walk!!! Very peaceful. A nice bubbling stream or creek gets me everytime!

i love the smell of garlic. i was just telling hubby yesterday about all the garlic someone would accidentally mow over and the smell would be released into the air and stay around for a few days.

Mmmm...garlic. I love the bluebells. It reminds me of the stories I have read of Robin Hood, perhaps that is because of the movies and scenes from there. What a gorgeous walk.
My grandmother's farm in North Wales has a sea of bluebells, usually in May. I have never managed to be there when they are in bloom and she says it is an amazing thing to behold. Now I know what she's talking about.
What a magical place. I hope you don't have to drive very far to enjoy it. I've never seen such a mass of bluebells--but I have seen Gloucestershire!

My Mother is thrilled that there were so many comments about the Bluebells she loves, and Sam she says yes she is more than happy to come back as a Bluebell!
