Fun Monday # 53
Crown Princess at ooh,a shinypen has set us this assignment...
Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you.
I found this really difficult and I have been playing with three draft posts over the weekend but then suddenly in the middle of the night I knew which song I was going to post. I haven't actually heard it for years I didn't know if it would be on 'you tube' but hey presto after some searching I found it. You will probably never have heard of it because it was a minor hit here in UK for a couple of weeks in the 80's. Back then I didn't know whether this would ever apply to me but I'm so glad it does! This one is for all the Grandma's everywhere as I'm sure it's how our grandchildren see us~ well I hope so anyway!
I'll be around to hear about your song later.

Well you get the prize for the most obscure , but nice, song I've come across in the FM pages so far Chris.
Believe it or not, I may have heard that one! It sounds vaguely familiar. Of course, we have close ties to England and Wales, but I have to say that Granny Wales was NEVER like the one in the song.
Chris
After reading some of your comments on other Fun Mondays, I have been wondering what you would pick. You have made a wonderful selection especially since we have had the chance to "meet" your grandchildren. My oldest granddaughter was three yesterday, and my youngest is 8 weeks old today.
Blimey that was a blast from the past. I remember the girl with the lisp, in the pink cardigan, very well!
Good grief!! I remember that too....and not sure what else to say!! ;)
How beautiful!! Hope one day my grandchildren think of me that way too!:)))
You know in US, certain percent of kids are being brought up solely by grandparents because parent/parents are abandoning their kids!! Not good at all, huh?
That is lovely, Chris! My grandparents were all dead before I was born so I am trying to be the grandmother to my grandkids that my mom was to mine. So far, so good.
Thanks.
I've never heard that song before, but it's sweet!
I think we bought that record for granny back in the eighties.
So when are you coming to visit?
Ahh that is a wonderful one and I'm glad you posted it. I'm not a grandma yet but I hope to be. I'm copying this for my sister..
Very sweet! I have not heard this, but my 13 year old said he did in school. That was a shock.
My momma has improved a lot. I'll be off and on over the next week. We just got to take one day at a time. Thank you for being there for me!
I've never heard that song before but I really like it. It reminds me of my grandmothers and I hope it's the way my daughter will one day see her grandmothers.
For my Mum: Pink Floyd, WISH YOU WERE HERE!
That is a nice song. I had never heard it before (like you said). It makes me miss my Granny....
AWW what a sweet song, I miss my Grandma's!
Never heard the song! Great choice though!
Awww, sweet!
It's not a nice song. It's one of the most blimmin' annoying songs in the history of the world. I was having a good start to the week until you put that in my head. And I didn't even play it - just seeing the title runed the inside of my head for the next few days.
It's not that I don't appreciate the cutesy sentiment. It's just the song itself. Aaaaaaaaah, cut off my ears, please...
too sweet! and i hope that after hearing a few other FM picks, this one won't be floating around my head for the rest of the day! :o)
happy monday!
Don't tell me! You love being a grandmother, right??? They're lucky.
That's definitely a new one on me. How sweet that song is. And what a personal choice.
Thanks!
Great choice, especially if you are a grandmother and enjoy being one!
I don't think I'll ever get to be one .... sigh!
OOHH It is a cute and lovely song!!
I love my grandparents so much!!! And My kids's.... well thats say iam not so thrilled on how thats been..there are no sleep overs or Granparents coming to see things in there lives like school things..so it brought back memories of how much I miss mine!!
And On how Much I can't wait for my Childrens kids to meet!! of course I 'll be 60 when the last one (so far) graduates!!
What a very, very sweet song.
Great choice for you,Chris!
Lisa
My God that is sweet!
what an adorable song!! Yes, that is perfect for you!! I want to send it to my Mom!!
Oh that's kind of a tear jerker. I had never heard it before!
Oh so sweet, in a shrunken chipmunk, alien on helium kind of way! Actually, I'm going to email it to my mom from my kids on her birthday! Thanks for posting that, it's amazing what we learn about pop culture from these conversations across the ocean!
oh that is adorable!
what a perfect choice for you!
That's so sweet! And, I'm sad to say the only Grandma song I've heard before is Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer. I should be ashamed, right?
Never heard it either but it is cute! I do remember the song AFF mentions though!
Never heard it but it's beautiful!
What a sweet song ! I never heard it but it's just timeless. This little girl has a wonderful voice !
Wow! I can't wait to be a grandma! It puts me in mind of when my girls were little and there nan lived quite far away. They missed her so, just like I miss mine. This song makes me a little sad. My nan passed when I was just 17, My grandma is still kicking at 86, and still strong though small. I miss her listening to this song.
Thank you!
That song is familiar. My two years in Hong Kong in the 80's has given me a confusing British knowledge. I never know what is american and what is british from back then. I always have ot ask my husband if he has heard of something. If he has I assume it is american. Sometimes I get strange looks!
So sweet! I really loved my grandparents as a kid and have such great memories. I hope I can be that to my grandkids.
This is so sweet.
Such a sweet song choice! I'm going to have to send that clip to my mom, she's just going to love it!
that is so sweet!! I really liked it!
Ah...cool! This gave me tingles!
That is so lovely,Chris!
How did I miss yours!?
It's so sweet.....I'll have to show it to Maddie she would probably memorize it for her grandma. It made me teary though now that my mom is so far away and Kelly's mom has passed.
I remember this. I think I was a similar age to the kids who sang it. I lost my Gran around the time it was out so it was always a little bittersweet then, but now it makes me think of her, and that's good. :D
Sorry I'm late commenting on last week's Fun Monday. My first Fun Monday and I've already failed to make quota!
What a beautiful song! When the time is right I cannot wait to have my daughters listen to it!
