Fun Monday # 68 Family holidays are best

Alison has challenged us to think about holidays this week. She says:

Vacations...this is the time of year when most of us go on vacations. Show us and/or tell us about your favorite vacation - where you went, what you did, etc. Pictures would be great. Let's all take a trip around a the world via our FM friends!!

If you could see the weather here today grey skies and rain, it's a pleasure to think back to sun, sea and a happy family holiday. I am always at my happiest when I have the family all together but these days that is quite rare so I'm going to show you a few pictures of the last time we hooked up with Sam in Orlando, Florida. This was way back in 2003 and I was quite surprised that Embee agreed to come~ did I give him a choice~ Hmmm can't remember now! We met up with Beccy Joules, and the grandchildren at Gatwick Airport (London) and all flew together.

We spent a week in Orlando and we couldn't wait to get into the pool....
Below the grandchildren meet the monster!
After the frantic activities and endless queueing in Disneyland, we were pleased to move on to the peaceful Anna Marie Island. You can imagine our delight when we arrived here... What could be better than a secluded pool....
We did visit Busch Gardens~ see the hippo?
Sam celebrated her birthday while we were there and one of the waiters kindly took a family photo...

The sea and the beaches were wonderful and so empty we were very surprised. However, being the beginning of June I guess it was outside the holiday season...... You know how much I love sunsets which is the perfect way to end a holiday....

I am looking forward to taking a holiday trip with you all so I'll see you later!

PS My friend Tina has just rung to invite me to join a group for a week in Corfu in September~ must check flights!

Good to get the whole Fam together - queing there is nothing like queing. I understand you Brits are good at it. I myself spend my time trying to figure out where on the ride to seat my SIL so she gets soaked (and I like her) It's one of many a game my brother and I play

No post for me this week just visiting a few other to see their vacations.

It doesn't really matter "what" you do, just being with EVERYONE makes it special. Of course...when you have a spectacular setting with lots of area attractions, it keeps everyone happy and occupied :).

I can't believe your rental on Anna Maria Island...it looks like a castle :).

I love this vacation. You've seen more of Florida than I have, good for you. Your wonderful photos prove what a good time you had. (I've only been to Key West, in Florida.)

What wonderful vacation photos! You have a lovely family. I've not ever been to Orlando, but I have visited Busch Gardens and live at the beach here in So Cal … so I can definitely relate. Family trips are the BEST aren’t they? We’re having a rainy Memorial Day weekend too this year ;--)

My Fun Monday is at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,

Very nice, love all the photos! I just love family holidays and hope it continues for years to come. I admit to thinking what it will be like as the kids get older and move out on their own, but hopefully we can all get together once in awhile like this. I guess trips like this make time together 'extra' special :o)

I don't know about Anna Marie Island, ChrisB. How pristine it looks and the perfect place to hide away with your favorite people. Lovely sunset--fortunate time to have the camera in hand. I lived in Florida one year and the state does have beautiful water sunsets.

I enjoyed revisiting your Florida vacation with you. We went to Buche Gardens once, and we really enjoyed it. I would like to go back there one day.

Orlando and Florida are indeed both vacation destinations especially if you can visit with the family too.

Florida is a huge hit with northern foreigners... perhaps because we see so much sun and you see so little!

Come back anytime!

Hi Chris!

I enjoyed seeing the photos and hearing about your Florida vacation. I've never been to Florida. We have friends who spend two months in Destin, every winter. They keep telling us we are missing out! Maybe I'll put it on our list, which is growing and growing!

Have a great week!
Pat

Nice souvenirs ! I only remember from Orlando that it was hot, hot, hot ! But it also was in the middle of July at that time we had to take our holidays with the school holidays because of our son. It also was very crowded. I especially loved Seaworld.

Looks like a marvelous family holiday! It is fun to go to Disney but fun, too, to get away from all those crowds.

olive what great fun to be that close to Orlando!

Asha we didn't get to visit all the theme parks which is one of the reasons I would like to go again.

robin the rental was great and reasonable cost from what I remember!

jan now we didn't get down as far as Key West.

sam you were invited as I recall!

sayre the sun is a big attraction, when you get so much rain like we do in the UK!

gattina as I recall we were there just before the hurricane season~ when I understand it gets very humid. We got thunderstorms most afternoons but this wasn't a problem.

What wonderful photos and memories you have! I can drive to Orlando in about 8 hours but I haven't been there in 15 years. Shame.

My office mate is going to Orlando to visit Disney in a couple of days.
